What were we yapping about a year ago [3.9.24]
and do we still care?
March 3-9, 2023:
- Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty released, a Sekiro knock-off that got dumped by most soon after release.
- IGN wrote: “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Is a Litmus Test for Live-Service Games” It failed that test to everyone but Warner Bros who stubbornly refuses to budge on chasing the live-service dragon. Their plan is to “reduce volatility by focusing on core franchises and bringing at least some of them to the mobile and free-to-play space, as well as continuing to invest in live-service games that people play--and spend money on--over a long period of time.” [source] Which reads as making nothing original and everything that can extract money from users.
- The Mandalorian began Season 3. A film has seemingly replaced a fourth season, and a video game that existed as a unconfirmed-confirmed project from Respawn has now been canned.
- Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was announced. Everyone is still waiting for the June 21st release.
- Marc Laidlaw told Rock, Paper, Shotgun that he regretted posting the plot of Half-Life 3 in 2017.
- Scream 6 released. Nobody really cares about these movies and yet they continue to release. Scream 7 has been in the news purely due to production firing one star, Melissa Barrera, due to her support for Palestine, ensuring we never have to watch or speak of this film again. Jenna Ortega, superstar after the success of Netflix’s Wednesday series, and its TikTok dance virality, also left the project, though seemingly for non-Palestine related reasons.
- Destiny 2: Lightfall released. It was mid.
- The Last of Us Season 1 finished. It was mid. God help us when season 2 releases.
- Phil Fish made a rare appearance, talking to Simon Parkin for his My Perfect Console podcast.
- Adam Sessler reminded us how batshit insane he has become. When I was present on Twitter his consistent over the top responses to any criticism revealed an ugliness that maybe was always there.
From the Discord:
- The origin of “it is one of inspiration”

- Kyle was full of hope re: Starfield after its delay. His faith was not rewarded.
